Basketball Road Trip Begins Thursday At Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern's men's and women's basketball teams will take to the road this week for a pair of games, beginning Thursday at Tennessee Tech.

The women's game will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET.  The men's contest is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET.  Both games will air live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  TTU leads the all-time series 67-28.
 
-  The Golden Eagles won the first match-up of the season, 81-68.
 
-  Eastern Kentucky had a 44-40 lead at halftime in the first meeting of the season.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU lost at Morehead State on Saturday, 68-52.   
 
-  The Colonels turned the ball over 25 times against the Eagles.
 
-  Shay Solomon had eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.     
 
-  After missing 11 games with an injury, senior Abby Wright returned against Morehead State.  She made all three of her shot attempts, including two three pointers, and finished with eight points.
 
-  Eight Colonels scored against Morehead State, but none had more than nine points.
 
-  The Colonels are knocking down six 3-pointers a game.  

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Tennessee Tech lost at home to Belmont on Saturday by a score of 99-67.    
 
-  The Golden Eagles are led by Jordan Brock, who is averaging a team-best 12.5 points per game.
 
-  Brock has hit 65 three-pointers this season.
 
-  No other TTU players is averaging double figures in points, but five more contribute seven points per game or more.
 
-  Anacia Wilkinson leads the team in rebounding with 6.4 boards per game.
 
-  Tennessee Tech is holding its opponents to 65 points per game.

WHAT TO KNOW
- Senior Nick Mayo posted his fourth double-double in EKU's last six games on Saturday, scoring 26 points and grabbing 12 rebounds vs. Murray State. 

- With Saturday's performance, Mayo moved past Patrick Ewing to No. 242 on the NCAA's all-time points list (2,209). 

- For the first time this season, EKU started three freshmen on Saturday vs. Murray State: Jomaru Brown, Tre King and Houston King. Brown scored 19 points, while Tre King nearly recorded a double-double of 10 points and nine rebounds (eight of which were offensive). 

- The Colonels have been perfect from the free throw line in nine games over the last decade. Their 15-of-15 performance vs. Murray State was the second highest total during that span, the best since they went 20-of-20 vs. Tennessee State on March 2, 2013. 

- EKU (11-16, 4-10 OVC) ranks second in the country in steals-per-game (10.7) and turnovers forced (19.0). The Colonels also rank 7th in the country in turnover margin (+4.3) and 20th in scoring offense (82.8). 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Tennessee Tech (7-20, 3-11 OVC) comes into the week having lost six straight games. 

- The Golden Eagles are led by freshman Jr. Clay, who is averaging 14.4 points-per-game. 

- This will be the 138th all-time meeting between EKU and Tennessee Tech. The Colonels lead the series, 74-63; however, the Golden Eagles have won three straight over Eastern, including a 91-85 win in Georgetown in late January.
