Women's Basketball Falls To Tennessee State

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The women's basketball team lost to conference foe Tennessee State, 57-31, Saturday at McBrayer Arena.
 
The Colonels (2-21, 0-12 OVC) were led by the early sharp shooting of Bria Bass and Paige Murphy who accounted for 11 of EKU's first 15 points. The first quarter was capped off by a low-post, Brittany Grice buzzer-beater to cut the Tiger lead to 17-15.  
 
EKU shot 57 percent from behind the arc in the first half, but trailed TSU 28-21 going into the break.  The Tigers scored the first seven points of the third quarter to pull away.
 
Tennessee State (4-20, 4-8 OVC) was led by Tia Wooten who finished with a game-high 15 points, three steals, and two blocks. TSU out-scored EKU, 25-10, in points-off-turnovers and picked the Colonels' pockets 15 times. 
 
Bass led EKU in scoring with eight points and added three steals on the defensive end. Murphy had seven points of her own and Shay Solomon collected a team high eight rebounds.
 
The Colonels will host in-state rival Murray State on Thursday.  The game time has been changed to 5:30 p.m.
