EKU Plays Final Home Basketball Games Of The Season Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU basketball teams will play their final home basketball games of the 2018-19 season on Saturday against in-state rival Morehead State.

The women's game tips at 4:30 p.m. The men's contest is set for a 7 p.m. tip.  Both games will air live on ESPN+.

Seniors from both teams will be honored in pregame ceremonies.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 51-45.
 
-  The Eagles picked up a 68-52 win earlier this season in Morehead.
 
-  Bria Bass scored a team-high nine points in the first meeting of the season between the rivals.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU led Austin Peay 36-35 at halftime on Thursday, but lost 80-60.   
 
-  Seniors Abby Wright, Shay Solomon, Madison Pierce and Joya Smith will be honored before the game.
 
-  Wright led the team with 16 points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds against APSU.
 
-  Eastern shot 43 percent from the field against the Governors, but was out-scored 17-6 off turnovers.
 
-  Wright leads the team in scoring this season at 12.5 points per game.
 
-  The Colonels are knocking down six 3-pointers per game.  

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Morehead State (21-9, 12-5 OVC) have won two straight after an 80-71 victory at home over Murray State on Thursday.    
 
-  Five Eagles scored in double figures against the Racers, led by Miranda Crockett with 21 points.  
 
-  Tierra McGowan had 10 points and 19 rebounds.
 
-  Crockett leads the team with 17.8 points per game.
 
-  McGowan averages a team-best 9.1 rebounds per contest.
                          
-  The Eagles are shooting 44 percent from the field this season, but just 30 percent from behind the arc.

WHAT TO KNOW
- EKU (13-17, 6-11 OVC) is currently tied with SIUE and Tennessee State for seventh in the OVC standings. The top eight teams advance to play in the OVC Tournament March 6-9 in Evansville, Indiana. 

- With his 31-point performance in the win over Austin Peay on Thursday, Nick Mayo moved past APSU great Bubba Wells to No. 5 on the OVC's all-time scoring list (2,289 points). 

- EKU has now played 11 one-possession games this season (decided by three points or less). The Colonels are 7-4 in those games. 

- Freshman Jomaru Brown recorded a career-high nine assists vs. Austin Peay on Thursday. 

- Redshirt junior Dujuanta Weaver notched his second four-point play of the season on Thursday. 

- The Colonels have scored 2,485 points this season. The school record for points in a season is 2,677 (2013-14). 

- EKU leads the NCAA in total steals (308). The Colonels are 14 steals away from having the second-most ever by an EKU team in a season (322). The 1991-92 squad's single season record of 535 steals will be hard to beat! 

- The Colonels rank third in the country in turnovers forced (18.4) and 15th in turnover margin (+3.7). 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Morehead State (11-19, 7-10 OVC) fell at home to Murray State, 71-52, on Thursday night. 

- The Eagles are led by Jordan Walker, who comes in averaging 15.9 points-per-game. 

- This will be the 191st meeting between long-time rivals EKU and Morehead State. The Colonels lead the series, 109-81; however, the Eagles won the first meeting this year, 78-72, in Morehead. 

UP NEXT
