Box Score

RICHMOND, Ky.
– Junior Kylie Thompson's penalty-kick goal in overtime sent the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team to a thrilling 1-0 victory over previously undefeated Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon.

Milwaukee (3-1) came into the day unblemished and had only lost three times in its last 50 games dating back to 2016.

However, the Colonels outplayed the Panthers, outshooting their guests 17-14 on the day. Fourteen of EKU's shots came in the second half and overtime.

The Colonels' constant offensive pressure finally led to a breakthrough in the eighth minute of OT. Freshman Ali Kirk fired a shot that led to a handball in the box.

Thompson calmly sank the ensuing penalty kick to give the Colonels (1-3) a much-needed win.

It was Thompson's team-leading second goal of the season and her sixth career goal.

Thompson and senior Marian Wolski both finished the day with three shot attempts.

Junior goalkeeper Billie Clark was brilliant in the net, making seven key saves to earn her first career shutout.

It marked Matt Cosinuke's first win as a collegiate head coach.

EKU returns to action on Thursday night when the Colonels travel to Indianapolis to take on IUPUI. First touch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
