Kylie Thompson's penalty-kick goal in overtime sent the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team to a thrilling 1-0 victory over previously undefeated Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon.

Milwaukee (3-1) came into the day unblemished and had only lost three times in its last 50 games dating back to 2016.

However, the Colonels outplayed the Panthers, outshooting their guests 17-14 on the day. Fourteen of EKU's shots came in the second half and overtime.

The Colonels' constant offensive pressure finally led to a breakthrough in the eighth minute of OT. Freshman
Ali Kirk fired a shot that led to a handball in the box.

Thompson calmly sank the ensuing penalty kick to give the Colonels (1-3) a much-needed win.

It was Thompson's team-leading second goal of the season and her sixth career goal.
