COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team fell at Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee Tech, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
EKU (3-7, 1-1 OVC) outshot Tech, 5-3, in the first half, but the Golden Eagles were able to capitalize on a chance with two minutes left on the clock. In the 43
rd minute, Carme Peirau finished a headed cross from Meg Ivey right in front of the goal to send the hosts into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.
Cassidy Bereda gave TTU (3-4-3, 1-0-1 OVC) a 2-0 lead with a goal in the 66
th minute.
Freshman
Audrey Anderson cut the Tech lead in half in the 80
th minute. Anderson blocked a clearance by the Tech goalkeeper and then buried her second goal of the season to make it 2-1.
However, Bereda scored again in the 88
th minute to halt the comeback and seal the victory for Tennessee Tech.
EKU outshot TTU, 15-10, on the day.
Senior
Marian Wolski paced the Colonels with four shots. Anderson and sophomores
Sarah Owusu and
Baylee Lanter all fired two shots in the game.
