EKU Women's Basketball Falls On The Road At Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –
Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team fell on the road at Austin Peay State University, 69-53, on Saturday.
 
Austin Peay broke a 3-3 tie with an early 8-0 run to move in front 11-3.  When I'Liyah Green scored to start the second quarter, the Colonels closed the gap to three, 14-11.  However, the Governors went on a 13-4 run and EKU never got any closer.
 
A lay-up by Myah Leflore capped the run and put APSU in front by 12, 27-15.  The home squad led by 13, 34-21, at halftime.  Eastern shot 40 percent in the first half, but turned the ball over 13 times.
 
Austin Peay scored the first five points of the second half to stretch its lead to 18, 39-21.  Eastern Kentucky closed a 19-point deficit to 14 on five straight free throws, including two each from Teri Goodlett and Green.  The two from the charity stripe by Green made it 46-32.
 
A three-pointer and a lay-up from Goodlett, along with a free throw from Green got the visitors within 11, 51-40, with 1:15 remaining in the third quarter.  The Governors scored the next five points and Eastern never got that close again.
 
Halfway through the fourth quarter, the Colonels cut the Governors lead to 14, 61-47, after a layup by Anysa Jordan. However, APSU scored the next five points to push its lead back to 19, 66-47.
 
Teri Goodlett scored a team-high 15 points to go with three steals. Green posted 14 points and eight rebounds.
 
Brandi Ferbby scored a game-high 17 points with four rebounds.
                                                                                                                         
EKU will play three of its final four games of the regular season at home, beginning Thursday against Tennessee State at 5 p.m.
