EKU Basketball Hosts Belmont on Saturday at McBrayer

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's basketball teams will host Belmont on Saturday at McBrayer Arena.
 
The women are set to tip at 4:30 p.m. ET, followed by the men at 7 p.m. ET.

Both games will stream live on ESPN+.
 
Maroon EKU basketball t-shirts will be handed out at the women's game, while supplies last.

It is Campus Rec VIP Experience Night at the men's game.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- Belmont leads the all-times series between the two teams, 21-3.
 
- The Bruins won the first matchup this year in Nashville, 68-48.  
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern is 10-16 (4-11 OVC) after falling to Tennessee State, 67-64, Thursday in Richmond.
 
-  Teri Goodlett led the way for the Colonels posting a team-high 19 points, six rebounds and four steals against the Lady Tigers.
 
-  Bria Bass chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
 
-  The Colonels rank third in the OVC in field goal percentage defense.
 
- Goodlett ranks 11th in conference play in scoring, averaging 12.9 points per game.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Belmont comes into the contest at 18-8 (13-2 OVC), after knocking off Morehead State, 63-56, Thursday in Morehead.
 
-  Ellie Harmeyer posted a game-high 27 points and 19 rebounds against the Eagles.
 
-  Madison Treece chipped in 10 points off the bench.
 
-  Harmeyer ranks second in conference play in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per game.
 
-  Belmont ranks first in the conference in scoring defense.  
 
UP NEXT
Eastern Kentucky hits the road next Thursday when the Colonels take on in-state rival Murray State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (14-14, 11-4 OVC) enters the game in fourth place in the OVC standings, one game behind Belmont (21-7, 12-3 OVC).
 
The Colonels locked up a top-four seed and a first-round bye in the OVC Tournament with their 83-62 victory over Tennessee State on Thursday night at McBrayer.
 
Senior Ty Taylor led the Colonels with 22 points in Thursday's win. In doing so, he became the 35th Colonel to join the 1,000-point club.
 
Sophomore Jomaru Brown finished the win over TSU with 16 points, six steals, four assists and four rebounds. The six steals matches his career high.
 
Freshman Michael Moreno dished out a career-high five assists on Thursday.
 
EKU opened the win over Tennessee State on a 30-3 run.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Belmont has won seven straight games, including an 80-67 victory at Morehead State on Thursday night.
 
Adam Kunkel leads the Bruins in scoring at 17.0 points-per-game.
 
This is the 20th all-time meeting between EKU and Belmont. The Bruins lead the series, 14-5, and have won eight straight over the Colonels.
 
EKU's last win over Belmont came on February 6, 2016 in Nashville.
