EKU Women's Basketball Falls To First Place Belmont On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky.
– Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team fell to first place Belmont University, 85-46, Saturday in Richmond.
 
Eastern Kentucky (10-17, 4-12 OVC) cut the Bruin lead to five, 14-9, after a Teri Goodlett jumper right before the end of the first quarter. 
 
Belmont (19-8, 14-2 OVC) opened the second quarter on a 19-6 run to take a commanding 33-15 lead with 3:20 remaining in the first half, and the Bruins did not look back.
 
Goodlett paced the Colonel offense with a team-best 12 points and five rebounds. Bria Bass had 10 points.
 
Seven Colonels scored on the night.
 
Ellie Harmeyer led the way for Belmont with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds.
 
EKU hits the road next Thursday to face in-state rival Murray State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
