EKU Basketball Hits the Road to Face Eastern Illinois on Thursday Night

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's basketball teams open another Ohio Valley Conference road trip at Eastern Illinois on Thursday night.
 
The women tip from Lantz Arena at 6:15 p.m. ET, followed by the men at 8:30 p.m. ET.
 
Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- EIU leads the all-time series between the two teams, 20-19.
 
- The Panthers won the first meeting, 83-63, in Richmond.  
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern is 8-13 (2-8 OVC) after falling to Southeast Missouri, 60-44, Saturday in Richmond.
 
-  I'Liyah Green led the way for the Colonels posting her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks.
 
-  Green ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in blocks per game.
 
-  Teri Goodlett ranks first in OVC play with 4.7 assists per game.  
 
-  Kaifes ranks eighth in the OVC in three-point field goal percentage.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Eastern Illinois comes into the contest at 12-9 (6-4 OVC), after knocking off Austin Peay, 76-47, Saturday in Clarksville.
 
-  Karle Pace led the way for the Panthers with a game-high 19 points and six assists.
 
-  Four Panthers scored in double figures in the win against the Governors.  
 
-  Pace ranks third in OVC play averaging 17.8 points per game.
 
-  EIU ranks fourth in conference play in field goal percentage.

WHAT TO KNOW
 
At 8-2 in the OVC, the Colonels are off to their best start in league play since 1979.
 
The Colonels are in the midst of their first five-game win streak since November of 2015.
 
Senior Lachlan Anderson came off the bench to hit a career-high six three-pointers in the win over Southeast Missouri last Saturday. He finished with a season-high 20 points.
 
Freshman Michael Moreno led EKU with eight rebounds in the win over SEMO. Moreno has now lead the Colonels in rebounding in four of the last five games.
 
The Colonels amassed 28 steals in their two wins over UT Martin and Southeast Missouri last week. EKU currently ranks seventh in the country in steals/game (9.6).
 
Senior Ty Taylor was voted OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week on Monday. Taylor averaged 20 points, 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists-per-game in the two wins over UT Martin and SEMO last week.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Eastern Illinois (11-11, 4-6 OVC) fell on the road at first-place teams Murray State and Austin Peay last week.
 
Josiah Wallace paces the Panthers at 13.1 points-per-game.
 
This is the 42nd all-time meeting between EKU and Eastern Illinois. The Colonels lead the series, 23-18, and snapped a five-game losing streak to the Panthers with the 77-74 win in Richmond on January 9.
