EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Eastern Kentucky University used a 23-5 run in the third quarter to pull away in the Colonels' 68-38, win over SIU Edwardsville on Saturday.

Qay Stanton scored the first 15 points of the second half for Eastern to take a 40-27 lead over the Cougars with 4:50 remaining in the third quarter.

Stanton scored 11 of her 16 points in the third quarter.

The Colonels (9-14, 3-9 OVC) opened the game on an 8-0 run after a three-pointer by
Samari Mowbray less than three minutes into the game.

SIU Edwardsville (3-20, 1-11) answered back and closed the first frame on a 7-0 run to cut into the Colonel lead 14-11, after one quarter of play.

The two teams traded baskets for much of the second quarter and the Colonels went into the locker room leading by one, 25-24.

Eastern closed the game on an 11-6 run to push its lead to 30 points.

The Colonels out-scored the Cougars 43-14 in the second half of play. Eastern forced 24 SIUE turnovers in the contest.

Eastern shot 42 percent from the field and 44 percent from the three-point line.

Goodlett posted a game-best 20 points and seven assists. Stanton chipped in 16 points and three steals. Four Colonels recorded double-digit points.
