EKU Soccer Falls Against In-State Rival Bellarmine On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team fell at home to in-state rival Bellarmine University, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.  
 
EKU (8-9, 4-5 ASUN) put a lot of pressure on the Knights in the first half, but five first half saves by Elyssa Francis from Bellarmine kept the match tied, 0-0, at the half.
 
Bellarmine (4-6-7, 2-5-2 ASUN) came out of the locker room putting a lot of pressure on the Colonels.
 
The Knights got on the board in the 51st minute after a red card in the box on Eastern Kentucky.
 
Sarah Buse found the back of the net on the penalty kick for the game-winning goal to give Bellarmine the 1-0 lead.
 
EKU outshot Bellarmine 12-10 on the contest. The Colonels had eight shots on goal compared to Bellarmines four. Eastern Kentucky had five corner kicks on the match.
 
Eastern Kentucky had three saves in goal.
 
EKU hits the road next weekend for the ASUN Conference tournament on Friday. The team and location have not yet been determined.
