RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team opens its 2021-22 season at home on Thursday night against Transylvania University.  
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is the first ever regular season meeting between the two teams.  
 
- Coach Todd coached at Transylvania from 2006-14 posting a 157-64 record.   
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern finished 9-15 last year and returns four starters off last years team.
 
-  The Colonels welcome eight new members to the squad this year.
 
-  EKUs leading scorer Jayla Johnson returns after averaging 13.5 points per game a season ago. Johnson was named second team all-conference and to the all-newcomer team.  
 
-  EKU welcomes in division I transfers Ally Collett, Ariel Kirkwood, Bridgid Fox and Arina Khlopkova to the team.
 
-  I'Liyah Green returns this year after missing all of last season due to injury.   
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Transylvania finished last season 14-6 and won the HCAC Tournament before not having an NCAA Tournament due to COVID-19.
 
-  Transy returns its leading scorer Madison Kellione from last year. Kellione averaged 12.1 points per game a season ago.  
 
-  The Pioneers open their season Tuesday night against Spalding.
