RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky women's golf team will begin its 2020-21 season on Monday at the Amelia Island Collegiate hosted by Jacksonville University.

The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the Amelia National Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida. The course has a par of 72 and will play to 6,029 yards.

This will be the first team event for EKU since playing in the UNF Collegiate on March 9-10, 2020. The remainder of the 2019-20 season, and the fall portion of the 2020-21 season, was canceled due to COVID-19.

Elisa Orduna Shackleton will compete for Eastern Kentucky in the opening event of the season.

McDonald and Neeley will be making their first appearances as Colonels.

Kristinsdottir led the team last season, and ranked fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference, with a 75.07 stroke average. She had one top-5 finish in five events. Orduna Shackleton was third on the team with a 77.86 average while playing in seven events. As a freshman, Hensley played in four events and had an 84.18 stroke average.

McDonald played four seasons at NCAA Division II Wingate University before transferring to EKU. She had three top-10 finishes last season while helping Wingate to a No. 12 national ranking. McDonald was chosen as the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in 2018.

Neeley is a Richmond, Kentucky native and played high school golf at Madison Central. She earned first team all-state honors as a senior in 2019 and finished fourth for Miss Kentucky Golf.

As a team, Eastern Kentucky ranked second in the OVC last season with a 305.5 stroke average.

The first round Amelia Island Collegiate will begin on Monday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Tuesday's final round is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. The field includes Charleston Southern, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Presbyterian, Seminole State, South Dakota, Winthrop and Wofford.
