MARTIN, Tenn.  – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team's fell on the road at first-place the University of Tennessee at Martin, 81-62, on Saturday at the Elam Center.

UT Martin (16-4, 14-2 OVC) used a big third quarter, outscoring the Colonels 22-14 to extend its lead to 12, 57-45, after three.

Eastern (8-13, 7-10 OVC) went toe-to-toe with the first-place Skyhawks for the first half.

The Colonels again got off to a quick start and jumped out to an early 9-3 lead after a pair of three-pointers by
Kendall Wingler. UTM answered back and tied the game at 14-14 after a pair of free throws by Dasia Young.

A driving layup by
Emma Hacker with one second left in the first quarter made the score 22-20, after a quarter.

Eastern took a 28-22 lead with 5:48 remaining in the first half after the
Bria Bass layup, but the Skyhawks closed the half on a 13-3 run to take a 35-31 lead into the break and never trailed again.

Wingler and
Anysa Jordan led the way for the Colonels with nine points. Bass had eight points and six rebounds.

Seygan Robbins led the way for the Skyhawks with a game-best 18 points. Maddie Waldrop had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Eastern shot 35 percent from the field. UT Martin shot 49 percent from the field on the contest.

Eastern Kentucky returns to McBrayer Arena on Monday when the Colonels host Austin Peay. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
