Soccer Welcomes Jacksonville State to Richmond for Tuesday Afternoon Match

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will look to make it two in a row when the Colonels host Jacksonville State on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
 
 
WHAT TO KNOW
 
EKU (1-2-0) blanked rival Morehead State, 2-0, on Friday in Richmond.
 
Redshirt sophomore Michaela Iacono scored her first career goal off a free kick in the first half. Senior Taran McMillan added an insurance score in the second half off an assist from sophomore Audrey Anderson.
 
Senior goalkeeper Sophia Braun made five saves to earn her first clean sheet as a Colonel.
 
Senior defenders Katie Shaffer and Claire Hicks played all 90 minutes of the shutout. Freshman center back Mackenzie Burdick only came off the field for three minutes.
 
EKU is now 4-0-1 in its last five meetings against Morehead State.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
Jacksonville State (0-3-0) fell at Austin Peay, 4-3, in double overtime last Tuesday.
 
Cynthia Bagozzi leads the Gamecocks with two goals on the season.
 
This is the 16th all-time meeting between EKU and Jacksonville State. The Colonels lead the series, 11-3-1, and have won five straight over the Gamecocks.
