MURRAY, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team led preseason favorite Murray State with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, but the Racers scored two late goals to pull out the 3-2 victory on Friday at Cutchin Field.
EKU (0-2-0) ran out in front of the hosts early. In the fifth minute, senior all-conference defender
Katie Shaffer served a ball into the box. It was deflected to sophomore
Rylie Jucker, who one-timed it into the bottom left corner of the goal to put the Colonels up 1-0.
It was Jucker's first career goal and Shaffer's third career assist.
Murray State (2-0-0) tied it in the 26
th minute when Chloe Barnthouse headed in a ball to make it 1-1.
Eastern recaptured the lead 10 minutes into the second half. Sophomore
Michaela Iacono played a ball to fellow sophomore
Audrey Anderson. Anderson fired a beautiful left-footed shot past the Murray State keeper to make it 2-1, Colonels.
It was Anderson' fourth career goal and Iacono's first career assist.
EKU held the lead until the 81
st minute when Rebecca Cubin tied it up with A goal. Seven minutes later, Hailey Cole added the game-winner for the Racers.
Anderson led the Colonels with two shots on goal in the back-and-forth affair.

The Colonels will now host rival Morehead State next Friday, March 12, at 3 p.m. ET.
