MURRAY, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team led preseason favorite Murray State with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, but the Racers scored two late goals to pull out the 3-2 victory on Friday at Cutchin Field.

EKU (0-2-0) ran out in front of the hosts early. In the fifth minute, senior all-conference defender Katie Shaffer served a ball into the box. It was deflected to sophomore Rylie Jucker, who one-timed it into the bottom left corner of the goal to put the Colonels up 1-0.

It was Jucker's first career goal and Shaffer's third career assist.

Murray State (2-0-0) tied it in the 26th minute when Chloe Barnthouse headed in a ball to make it 1-1.

Eastern recaptured the lead 10 minutes into the second half. Sophomore Michaela Iacono played a ball to fellow sophomore Audrey Anderson. Anderson fired a beautiful left-footed shot past the Murray State keeper to make it 2-1, Colonels.

It was Anderson' fourth career goal and Iacono's first career assist.

EKU held the lead until the 81st minute when Rebecca Cubin tied it up with A goal. Seven minutes later, Hailey Cole added the game-winner for the Racers.

Anderson led the Colonels with two shots on goal in the back-and-forth affair.

EKU goalkeeper Sophia Braun recorded 11 saves in the defeat.

The Colonels will now host rival Morehead State next Friday, March 12, at 3 p.m. ET.
