RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University student-athletes
Laura Taborda and
Ahmed Jaziri have qualified as individuals for the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Taborda and Jaziri will represent EKU at the national championship meet on Monday, March 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Taborda will race in the women's 6K at 12:50 p.m. ET, followed by Jaziri in the men's 10K at 1:40 p.m. ET.

Both races will air live on ESPNU and the WatchESPN app.

Thirty-eight individuals were selected to compete at each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.

Taborda – a sophomore from Covilha, Portugal – won the individual women's Ohio Valley Conference title on March 1 with a 5K time of 19:19.0. Jaziri – a junior from Rades, Tunisia – won the individual men's OVC title on the same day, covering the 8K course in a time of 26:40.3.

EKU has now been represented at the NCAA Cross Country Championships 15 of the last 16 years.

Taborda is the fourth EKU woman ever to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual.

Jaziri will be the 15
th EKU man to race as an individual at the national championships.

Two days before the NCAA Cross Country Championships, Jaziri will compete in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
