RICHMOND, Ky. – Championship season culminates on Saturday for the Eastern Kentucky University men's cross-country team and
Edna Chelulei at the NCAA National Championships in Columbia, Missouri.
Both races will be on ESPNU, with the women's race starting at 10:20 a.m. ET followed by the men's race at 11:10 a.m.
The men's team, consisting of
Taha Er Raouy,
Justine Kipkoech,
Miguel Baidal,
Mario Priego Montero,
Brian Kimutai,
Tomas Vega, and
Keeton Thornsberry, returns to the Gans Creek Course for the second time this season after finishing 2
nd as a team at the Southeast Regional, earning an automatic bid.
Er Raouy led the Colonels with a third-place individual finish at the regional in a time of 29:27.5, joined by fellow All-Region finishers
Brian Kimutai (6
th-29:39.5),
Justine Kipkoech (15
th-29:58.6), and
Miguel Baidal (18
th-30:05.5).
Chelulei will run as an at-large individual on the women's side after an All-Region performance in Charlottesville, finishing 11
th in a time of 19:47.0.
Chelulei will be the first female Colonel to run at the National Championships since 2017.
The 20
th nationally ranked men's team will look to make history in the "Show-Me State" by achieving the highest team finish in program history, currently 15
th, set in 2013.
