RICHMOND, Ky. – DaShawn Jackson, a 6'3" guard from Lexington, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball program, head coach
A.W. Hamilton announced on Friday.
Â
Jackson averaged 21.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists-per-game this season while leading Fredrick Douglass High School to a 19-2 record and a trip to the 11
th Region championship game.
Â
He shot 85.6 percent from the free throw line and 41.7 percent from deep while averaging three three-pointers-per-game.
Â
"DaShawn checks all the boxes for us," Hamilton said. "He's a winner, he's tough, and he's a big-time athlete. DaShawn's ability to score on all three levels is rare for a guard with his size and athleticism. He is a first-class person and will make Colonel fans proud on and off the floor. We couldn't be more pumped about adding another talented Bluegrass kid to our team. DaShawn will be a big part of our continued success here for the next four years."
Â
Jackson was a two-time all-region performer at Frederick Douglass. As a junior in 2019-20, he was named third team all-state by the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Â
Jackson joins four transfers in EKU's signing class – Iran Bennett (6'9" forward from Marshall), Braxton Beverly (6'0" guard from N.C. State), Trevin Wade (5'11" guard from Wichita State) and Jannson Williams (6'9" forward from Marshall).
