FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team fell on the road in its ASUN Conference opener to Florida Gulf Coast, 2-0, on Thursday night in Fort Myers, Florida.

The two teams played a scoreless first 45 minutes to send the game into halftime tied.

FGCU (4-5, 1-0 ASUN) broke the tie in the 62nd minute when Louise Lillback found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Eastern Kentucky's (4-5, 0-1 ASUN) offense put a lot of pressure on FGCU but the Eagles goalkeeper made two big time saves to keep the match at 1-0 late in the second period.

The Eagles put the game away in the 87th minute when Alyssa Abbondandolo took a pass for Alyssa Wilson to take a 2-0 lead.

FGCU out-shot the Colonels 20-12 on the contest. The Eagles had eight shots on goal compared to EKU's six.

Eastern Kentucky had seven corner kicks with FGCU only having five.
