EKU Soccer Pitches Shutout For First ASUN Victory

 The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team knocked off Jacksonville, 2-0, to pick up its first ASUN victory of the season on Thursday.
 
Eastern Kentucky (5-6, 1-2 ASUN) put a lot of pressure on the Dolphins from the first touch of the match.
 
The Colonels got a penalty kick in the 24th minute after a Jacksonville foul in the box and Audrey Anderson found the back of the net on the penalty kick to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead.
 
The score held true after 45 minutes of play.
 
EKU kept the pressure on Jacksonville in the second half and Anderson found the back of the net for her second goal of the match after a Nerea De Diego shot hit off the crossbar.
 
Jacksonville (5-5-2, 0-3 ASUN) stepped up its pressure in the second half with eight shots and four on goal.
 
Sabrina Hinz made her first career start for the Colonels and picked up her first career shutout with four saves all in the second half.
 
The two teams each had 11 shots on the match. The Colonels had five shots on goal compared to the Dolphins four. Each team had six corner kicks.
 
The Colonels continue their four-game home-stand on Sunday against pre-season favorite North Florida. The match starts at 1 p.m.
