RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's men's basketball team will host its annual Team Jared event in memory of former ball boy Jared Chitwood, and to raise awareness about the fight against cancer, on Saturday at 5 p.m.
 
The event will begin at the Weaver Gymnasium on the EKU campus and include 500 FREE shirts, FREE pizza, giveaways and live music.  A memorial walk, from Weaver to McBrayer Arena, honoring Jared and the Chitwood family will conclude the event at 6:15 p.m.
 
The Colonels will host Liberty at 7 p.m.  Tickets are available at EKUSports.com/basketballtix.
 
In 2017 at the age of 15, Jared was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  He passed away on March 22, 2018.
 
The Chitwood family will be recognized during the game against Liberty.
