LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Eastern Kentucky University women finished fourth out of nine teams, while the men took sixth at the Colonels' first-ever ASUN Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The EKU women scored 97 points to take fourth place. Saturday was highlighted by two gold medals and three silver medals for the Colonels.

Quantasia Perry became EKU's first-ever individual ASUN track champion when she won gold in the 200 meters, breaking her own school record with a time of 23.78.
Aniya Matthews (fifth / 24.80) and
Felicia Phillips (sixth / 24.95) also scored points in the final of the 200 meters.

In the very next event,
Jone Zabaleta Larranaga won 3,000 meter gold, breaking away from the pack with 800 meters to go and running away with victory in a time of 9:35.3.
Laura Taborda (fourth / 9:40.5) and
Grace Kilroy (seventh / 9:45.3) also added points in the race.

In the final event of the day, Perry, Matthews, and Phillips teamed up with
Alicia Recio to finish second in the 4x400 meter relay, earning silver with a new school record of 3:45.99.

The other two silver medals came from Perry and freshman
Madison Fleming. Perry came from behind to take second in the 60 meters final, clocking a time of 7.55.
Christian "Joy" Scott contributed points in the final as well, finishing fifth in 7.68.

Fleming earned silver in the 60-meter hurdles final with a time of 8.48.
Emma García-Palencia added two points with a sixth-place finish (9.08).

Zabaleta Larranaga scored more points in the final for the mile, finishing fourth in a time of 4:54.40.

Matthews (56.44) and Phillips (56.62) combined to score five points in the 400 meters final, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.

Recio added two points in the 800 meters final, placing seventh with a time of 2:14.4.

In the field events,
Joy Nwokike scored two points with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump (38-1.5). That mark ranks No. 3 all-time at EKU.

The EKU men scored 50 points to take sixth place. The Colonels' Saturday was highlighted by two silver medals and a bronze.
All-American
Ahmed Jaziri kicked things off by taking silver in the mile with a time of 4:03.42. Freshman
Jan Badia-Celma added four points with a fifth-place finish (4:08.37).

Pedro García-Palencia and
Jackson Siddall both reached the podium in the 3,000 meters and both clocked personal-best times in the process. Garcia-Palencia finished second in the race with a time of 8:09.98. Siddall was not far behind in third, recording a time of 8:10.16.

Drew Sawyers,
Austin Keeling, and
Bryce Favors-Charleston teamed up take sixth in the 4x400 meter relay (3:25.56).

In the field events, three Colonels scored in the triple jump. Freshman
Isaiah Allen took fourth in the event with a personal-best 47-4.25. He was followed by
Samuel Carter (fifth / 46-10.25) and Keeling (eighth / 45-2.25).
