RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams will wrap up the regular season by competing at the University of Louisville's Clark Wood Invitational this weekend.

All-American Ahmed Jaziri, meanwhile, will race the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Friday night in Stanford, California.

The Clark Wood Invite gets underway at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park with field events at 11 a.m. on Friday. Track events start at 4:30 p.m. The meet resumes on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. and will wrap up with the 4x400 meter relays at around 4:30 p.m.

Admission is free and open to spectators.

The Colonels are fresh off strong showings at the Virginia Challenge and Kentucky Invitational last weekend. Jone Zabaleta Larranaga ran 16:02.5 in the 5,000 meters at Virginia. That time is No. 2 in EKU history and just over three seconds off the school record. It also currently ranks No. 2 in the ASUN and No. 28 in the NCAA East Region this season.

Laura Taborda, Madison Fleming, and Ahmed Sayf Kadri highlighted the track action at Kentucky. Taborda dropped her personal-best in the women's 1,500 meters to 4:24.52. That time puts her at No. 2 in the ASUN this season. Fleming finished fifth in the finals of the women's 100-meter hurdles, dropping a big personal-best of 13.76. That time is No. 3 in the ASUN this season, and it ties Fleming for fifth all-time at EKU.

Sayf Kadri, meanwhile, won the men's 1,500 meters in Lexington, clocking a PB of 3:46.65. That time is the fastest by a freshman in the ASUN this season, and it ranks No. 6 overall. It is also the fastest metric mile by a Colonel since 2015.

Jaziri is the reigning ASUN Male Track Athlete of the Week after running 8:39.4 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Virginia Challenge. That time ranks No. 4 in the NCAA East Region and No. 9 in the country. He will look to improve upon it on Friday night at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational.

His race is set to go off around 10:55 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on Flotrack.

Jaziri – a native of Rades, Tunisia – is the EKU record holder in the steeplechase (8:32.9), and he finished 10th in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last June in Eugene, Oregon.

The track and field teams have next weekend off before competing at the ASUN Outdoor Championships May 12-14 in Jacksonville, Florida.
