Colonels Geared Up For Second Year In ASUN Conference

Hosting North Alabama and Central Arkansas to End Home Tilt

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky soccer kicks off year two in the ASUN Conference as the Colonels host North Alabama on Thursday, Sept. 15 and Central Arkansas on Sunday, Sept. 18 at the EKU Soccer Field.
 
Thursday's matchup against North Alabama (3-2-3) will begin at 4:00 p.m. ET, gates will open 90-minutes prior to the start of the contest. As always, admission to the EKU Soccer Field is free, fans not able to attend can view the match on ESPN+ or tune in to Live Stats on the Colonels' website.
 
EKU enters Thursday's contest on a three-match win streak over Wright State, Detroit Mercy, and UIC, ending the non-conference slate with a record of 4-2. The 2016 women's soccer team holds the program record at eight.
 
Senior Maddy Lemery has scored in two of the Colonels last three matches. The Lake Mary, Fla. product is tied for the most goals (2) on the young season with fellow senior Myla Sharpless.
 
Current ASUN women's soccer standings have the Colonels in second place and North Alabama two spots below EKU at fourth place. Central Arkansas currently ranks 8th in the conference, but has a match on Thursday against in-state foe Bellarmine.

Scouting the Lions
- HC Chris Walker is in his 10th season as the leader of the women's soccer program.
- North Alabama has dropped its last two matches to Chattanooga (1-2) and Alabama (0-3), EKU defeated UTC on the road 2-1 earlier in the season.
- Midfielder Kate Wiseman is 68th in the nation in assists (3).
- Alice Bussey leads the Lions in goals with four, Izzy Gurney with three, the forwards combine for seven-of-11 UNA goals so far.

All-time against Central Arkansas
- UCA claimed the first ever meeting between the two programs, narrowly escaping the Colonels 2-1 at home.
 
Scouting the Sugar Bears
- Jeremy Bishop entered his 11th season as HC in 2022, he's compiled a record of 101-93-13.
- Central Arkansas has lost three of its last four matches to Oral Roberts, Tulsa, and Oklahoma State.
- UCA has used three keepers so far this year that have saved 56 shots, total is good for fourth in the NCAA.
- Five different players have scored UCA's five goals through seven matches.
