@EKUFootball Game Day: Colonels Battle Austin Peay In ASUN Opener Saturday

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – EKU hits the road for its first ASUN test as the Colonels face conference foe Austin Peay on Saturday, September 24, at Fortera Stadium. 

The game will air on ESPN+ with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Barry Greshma will handle play-by-play duties with Ethan Schmidt serving as the analyst and Madalyn Stubblefield working as the sideline reporter. 

The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM. Greg Stotelmyer and Jim Tirey will be on call.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 46-7 and the Colonels have won three of the last five meetings in the series. 

-  The two teams first met in 1959, a 21-7 victory for EKU.

-  The Colonels used a 28-3 run to erase a 10-point first-half deficit and earn a 35-27 win in last season's contest.

-  EKU has won the last three meetings in Clarksville. The two teams last played at Austin Peay in 2018, when Parker McKinney came off the bench to complete 7-of-8 passes and tossed the game-winning touchdown with 4:29 to play as EKU rallied for a 17-13 victory.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 52-21 all-time in conference openers. EKU won 19 consecutive conference openers from 1981-99. 

-  The Colonels scored 24 consecutive points in the second half to secure a 40-17 win over Charleston Southern in the home opener on Saturday. 

-  Punter Jeremy Edwards was named ASUN Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 47.7 yards per punt, including a career-long 61-yarder. 

-  Quarterback Parker McKinney threw four touchdown passes against Charleston Southern, including his program record-tying 51st career touchdown. 

-  Wide receiver Jayden Higgins set career highs in the win over the Buccaneers, catching seven passes for 185 yards. 

-  Running back Kyeandre Magloire scored on an eight-yard touchdown run on Saturday, giving him rushing touchdowns in consecutive games for the first time in his career. 

-  EKU's defense held Charleston Southern to 68 rushing yards in Saturday's win, marking the first time the Colonels had held an opponent to under 100 yards on the ground since Central Arkansas on Nov. 14, 2020. 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Austin Peay earned a 28-3 victory last Saturday at Alabama A&M, improving to 3-1 on the season. 
 
-  The Governors have not allowed a touchdown against an FCS opponent. 

-  Quarterback Mike DiLiello has thrown for multiple touchdowns in all four of APSU's games and has amassed 4,017 total yards of offense in his collegiate career.
 
-  Wide receivers James Burns and Trey Goodman have each caught a touchdown pass in three consecutive games. 

-  Linebacker Josh Rudolph tallied a career-high 10 tackles in APSU's win over Alabama A&M.
