@EKUFootball Game Day: Colonels Host Southern Utah Saturday Night

RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU hosts its second home game of the season against Southern Utah on Saturday, October 1, at CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium.

The game will air on ESPN+ with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Greg Stotelmyer, Jim Tirey, and Wes Chandler will be on the call. The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between the Colonels and Thunderbirds. 

-  EKU will also be facing a team from Utah for the first time in program history. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels are looking to bounce back from a 31-20 loss at Austin Peay last Saturday. 

-  Quarterback Parker McKinney set the program record for career touchdown passes on Saturday, tossing his 52nd touchdown in the second quarter. McKinney now owns EKU's career touchdown, completions, and attempts records and needs 299 yards to set the school record for career passing yards.  

-  Defensive back Joseph Sayles recorded his first career interception return for a touchdown against the Governors, picking off a pass in the first quarter and returning it 42 yards for a touchdown. 

-  Linebacker Chase Lasater made a season-high 15 tackles last weekend. Lasater leads the team with 19 solo stops this season. 

-  Wide receiver Jaden Smith caught a touchdown pass for the second consecutive week at Austin Peay. Smith is one of three different Colonels with three touchdown catches this year. 

-  Defensive lineman TK McLendon Jr. has tallied 3.0 sacks so far in 2022, which ranks second in the ASUN. 

-  EKU's offense has converted 53.2 percent of its third-down opportunities this season, the eighth-highest percentage in FCS football. 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Southern Utah is 3-1 this season, with wins against St. Thomas, Western Illinois, and Utah Tech. SUU's lone loss of the year came at Utah.
 
-  The Thunderbirds were victorious in their last outing, beating Utah Tech 31-17 at home.

-  Wide receiver Isaiah Wooden made five catches for 129 yards in the win over Utah Tech and has 14 grabs for 399 yards this season.
 
-  Wide receiver Ethan Bolingbroke also has 14 catches on the year and hauled in a three-yard touchdown reception last weekend. 

-  Running back Bobby Cole rushed for his second touchdown of the year in SUU's victory on Saturday.
