Colonels Drop ASUN Match of the Week in Nashville

Ends EKU’s Six-Match Positive Streak

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – EKU women's soccer battled hard in the Music City on Thursday night, falling to Lipscomb by a result of 2-0 at the Lispcomb Soccer Complex in the ASUN match of the week.

With the loss, the Colonels move to 5-3-2 on the season and 1-1-2 in the ASUN Conference.

Eastern Kentucky and Lipscomb created an exciting start to the match, both teams firing off eight shots, four on frame, in the first 15 minutes of play.

Lipscomb would strike first in the 16th, Kelli Beiler played a cross off her shoulder and used her right boot to hit the upper right portion of the net.

EKU entered the halftime break down one goal despite not attempting a shot after the initial LU tally.

The Colonels had two looks at the equalizing goal from the 59th to 62nd minute, first-year student-athletes Payton Payne and Kaitlyn Rowlett struck two shots that were saved by reigning ASUN keeper of the Year CJ Graham.

The Bisons would find their two-goal advantage in the 70th minute off a tip-toe push from Shelby Craft using her right foot to sneak the ball past Lauren Seedlock.

EKU would have two more looks at goal in the final 20 minutes of regulation, neither attempt found net and Lipscomb snapped the Colonels' six-match positive result streak.

Seedlock ended the night with six saves, one shy of her season-high that she's notched three times this season.

Forward Maddy Lemery led the Colonels in shots (3) for the sixth time in 11 matches.

LU ended the contest with the advantage in shots (18-10), shots on goal (8-5), and corner kicks (10-1).

Eastern Kentucky will stay in Tennessee to conclude a three-match ASUN road swing against Austin Peay on Sunday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. ET in Clarksville, Tenn.
