SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Eastern Kentucky men's cross country team finished in 14
th place with 340 points at the Joe Piane Invite on Friday. The race was held at Burke Golf Course.
The Colonels were led by senior
Enock Kipchumba in the five-mile race finishing in 36
th place out of 182 runners with a time of 24:04.50. Senior
Jackson Siddall posted a time of 24:14.20 for 52
nd place while sophomore Ahmed Kadri finished in 73
rd place with a time of 24:27.90. Senior
Nikodem Dworczak clocked a time of 24:34.40 for 86
th place, senior
Keeton Thornsberry finished in 94
th place with a time of 24:36.50, and senior Pedro Garcia-Palencia ran a time of 24:40.70 finishing in 101
st place. Senior
Hakim Abouzouhir posted a time of 24:41.40 for 102
nd place in his EKU debut. Graduate student
Joan Tapias (24:50.30) and sophomore
Griffin Staude (25:01.30) finished in 118
th place and 132
nd place, respectively.
Notre Dame won the event with 81 points. Tennessee (104) finished in second followed by Alabama (126), Montana State (144), and Charlotte (180). Alabama's Victor Kiprop won the five-mile race (23:16.50) finishing 1.5 seconds ahead of Charlotte's Nickolas Scudder.
The Colonels will compete at the Live in Lou Classic tomorrow (Oct. 1) at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The men race at 9:30 am followed by the women at 10:15 am.
