EKU Cross Country Competes At ASUN Cross Country Championships

NASHVILLE – The Eastern Kentucky University cross country teams will compete at the ASUN Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Percy Warner Park. The women will race in the 5K at 10:15 a.m. ET while the men will compete in the 8K at 11:00 a.m. ET.
 
The men enter the postseason ranked No. 21 in the USTFCCCA Division I National Coaches Poll. EKU finished in 17th place at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in a loaded field of 22 nationally ranked teams.
 
Mohammed Jouhari led the Colonels at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, clocking an 8K time of 24:02.8 to finish in 40th place out of 280 competitors. He earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Runner of the Week for his performance.
 
Hakim Abouzouhir, Aniol Borras, Nikodem Dworczak, Taha Er Raouy, Pedro Garcia-Palencia, Kristian Imroth, Jouhari, Ahmed Kadri, Enock Kipchumba, Drew Moore, Nicodemus Rotich, Griffin Staude, Joan Tapias, and Keeton Thornsberry will lace up for the men.
 
Bahiya El Arfaoui led EKU at the Crimson Classic, finishing in 18th place out of 228 runners with a personal-best 6K time of 20:42.6. She earned the ASUN Women's Runner of the Week and ASUN Women's Freshman of the Week for her performance.
 
Katy Chapman, Alex Cundiff, El Arfaoui, Hannah Geisen, Sonia Koech, Irene Rubio Miralles, Lucy Thornton, and Anouk van Gils will compete for the women.
 
The Maroon and White will square off against teams such as Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Central Arkansas, FGCU, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, North Alabama, North Florida, Queens, and Stetson.
