Women’s Basketball Renews Rivalry at Tennessee State on Friday

71st Meeting Between EKU and TSU

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – EKU women's basketball continues its four-game road swing on Friday renewing an old rivalry against Tennessee State inside the historic Gentry Center in The Music City. 
 
Friday's game is scheduled to tip at 6:30 p.m. EST and tickets start at just $20 on Ticketmaster
 
Fans not able to make the contest can tune in on ESPN+ or 92.5 WEKY (Richmond area) with Wes Chandler courtside on the call.
 
EKU (8-2) is coming off its first true road loss of the season against Tennessee last Sunday by a narrow score of 72-63.  Prior to last Sunday's game at Rocky Top, the Colonels were 2-0 on the road with wins over SIUE and Evansville.

EKU Notes
- EKU is off to an 8-2 start to the season for the first time since 1986.
- Entering the week, EKU still receives votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid Major Top 25 poll, one of three Atlantic Sun Conference teams on the rankings (No. 6 FGCU, RV Lipscomb).
- Junior guard Kaitlyn Costner was granted immediate eligibility from the NCAA on Thursday morning.
- Antwainette Walker enters play on Friday as the reigning ASUN Player of the Week for the second time this season, last week, Walker averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.
- Walker continues to lead the team, ASUN, and is fourth in the NCAA in points per game (24.7).
- As a team, EKU is top-30 in the NCAA in assist/turnover ratio (1.35), assists per game (19.5), offensive rebounds per game (15.7), scoring offense (81.3), turnover margin (+8.7), and turnovers forced per game (23.1).
- Guard Ivy Turner is 14th in the country in assist/turnover ratio (3.2).
- Guard Alice Recanati leads EKU with 5.7 assists per game, she's 38 assists away from setting the all-time program record.

All-Time vs. Tennessee State
- Friday's game is the 71st meeting between EKU and TSU.  The Colonels own a 44-36 head-to-head record over the Tigers.
- EKU has won three of its last four meetings over Tennessee State, including a 74-62 win in the last road game on Feb. 13, 2021.
- The Colonels are 16-18 all-time inside the Gentry Center.
 
Scouting the Tigers
- Tennessee State (2-6) is seeking its first win since Nov. 26 against Bryant.  TSU has lost its last two on the road against Cincinnati and Akron.
- TSU suffered a 31-point, 74-43, loss to ASUN foe Lipscomb on Nov. 17 at home.
- TSU is led by Ty Evans in his fourth year with the program and has amassed a 25-65 overall record.
- Sanaa' St. Andre leads the squad with 11.4 points per game over seven games, scoring double figures in four of her last five games.
