RICHMOND, Ky. – 2023 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award candidate
Antwainette Walker recorded her 12th double-double of the season scoring 33 points and 11 rebounds in a 82-69 loss to Austin Peay in the ASUN Game of the Week at Baptist Health Arena on Saturday night.
With the loss, EKU moves to 13-11 (6-5 ASUN) and has dropped three of its last four conference contests.
Walker's 33 points and 12 made field goals set a new career high in both categories.
Danielle Rainey joined Walker in double-figure scoring, dropping 11 points on 33.3 percent shooting from the floor.
Austin Peay scored four unanswered points to open the first quarter, halted by a Walker jumper to get EKU in the scoring column. Walker scored jumper on back-to-back possessions to record the first six points for the Colonels. APSU ended the first frame with a 22-15 advantage.
Walker continued her hot streak scoring the first three baskets of the second quarter and 14 of EKU's 25 first half points into the media timeout. The Govs scored the last five baskets of the quarter to run away with a 43-29 lead at halftime.

Emma Hacker opened the second half for EKU to narrow the gap to 14 points. As both teams entered the third media timeout, Walker scored on three-straight possessions to shorten the gap to single digits.
Marissa Mackins hit 3-pointers of back-to-back possessions and
Bridgid Fox hit her first basket of the game to bring EKU to its smallest deficit of the game at 54-50. The Govs once again claimed the third frame by a score of 58-54.
Austin Peay jumped out to a 10-point advantage early in the fourth quarter and never relinquished its lead to finish the contest.
APSU shot 50.9 percent from the floor against EKU's 43.6 percent.
Both teams attempted 26 free throw attempts in Saturday's game, Austin Peay made 21 to EKU's 17.
EKU hits the road for a two-game ASUN series at Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State next week.
