EKUHoops Heading To Charlotte For Rematch With Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – EKU will play at Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday.
 
The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 1-0.  The two teams met for the first time on Dec. 31, 2022 with the Colonels winning 88-83 in Richmond. 
 
-  In the first meeting this season, EKU blocked 11 shots and went on a 13-0 run in each half.  Isaiah Cozart blocked eight shots and grabbed eight rebounds while four different Colonels scored in double figures, led by Devontae Blanton's 22 points. Leland Walker finished with 19 points, Tayshawn Comer tallied 13 points and four steals. EKU outscored Queens 40-30 in the paint and shot 47.1 percent from the floor.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (16-9, 9-3 ASUN) has won three in a row and now sits just one game out of first place in the ASUN standings.  The Colonels knocked off first place Kennesaw State, 77-74, on Saturday.
 
-  Blanton was chosen as the ASUN Player of the Week on Monday after he averaged 23 points, five rebounds and four assists in wins over Jacksonville State and KSU.
 
-  With four blocks against Kennesaw State, Cozart broke Nick Mayo's program single season record of 55 set in 2018-19.  Cozart now has 57 blocks.  He is 10th in the NCAA in total blocks.
 
-  This year's team is just five blocks away from matching the 2004-05 Colonels (122) for most in program history.
 
-  EKU is second in the ASUN in scoring (78.52 ppg), behind Queens.  The Colonels are first in rebounding (39.48).
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  In its first season at the NCAA Division I level, Queens stands 16-9 overall and 6-6 in the ASUN Conference.  The Royals are coming off a road trip split in Tennessee, falling 66-60 at Lipscomb before beating Austin Peay, 70-69.
