JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Behind another 20-point performance from
Antwainette Walker, EKU's second 1,000-point scorer of the season in
Danielle Rainey, and a near triple-double from
Alice Recanati, EKU wraps up regular season play with an 83-71 win over North Florida on Wednesday night inside UNF Arena.
Rainey, a graduate student from Washington, D.C., led the Colonels with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She added five rebounds, two steals, and two assists in the contest.
Walker recorded her 29th consecutive game in double-figure scoring with 21 points, going 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. The Ann Meyers Drysdale candidate added 11 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season.
Point guard
Alice Recanati nearly recorded a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds (Career-high), and eight assists. Wednesday's number marked her first career double double.
Marissa Mackins went 4-of-8 from beyond the arch against her former team, recording 12 points for a season sweep against UNF.
Rainey scored the first basket of the game for EKU, hitting her milestone one minute after the first horn. EKU would extend a five-point run off a
Marissa Mackins 3-pointer and two free throws by Walker. A pair of threes by Mackins and
Emma Hacker would close out the first frame with the Colonels up 24-18.

Bridgid Fox scored two baskets to open quarter two, extending EKU's lead to 14 around the media timeout, its largest of the first half. Rainey, in her career night, scored the last basket for the Colonels to end the first half in the visiting teams favor 40-30.
With 10 first half points, Walker became the third player in EKU history, 12th player in ASUN Conference women's basketball history to record 600 points in a single season.
North Florida flipped the script and scored the first four baskets of the third quarter to narrow the gap 42-39. The Ospreys would eventually tie the game at 44, forcing a Colonel timeout which was extended to the media break. EKU ended the frame with five field goals to widen its lead back to double-digits, 59-49.
Back-to-back three-pointers opened the last frame for EKU to extend the lead to 15 points. The Colonels would hold off to secure their 18th win of the season, matching the most wins in a single season in over seven years.
EKU recorded 19 assists as a team on 30 made field goals. Also outrebounding the Ospreys 47-42.
The Colonels ended the night with shooting splits of 43/38/79 compared to UNF's 38/36/60.
EKU returns to action in the ASUN Women's Basketball Championship on March 4-11, as of Wednesday night, the Colonels are scheduled to travel to Austin Peay in the quarterfinals.
