Colonels Conclude Regular Season With Loss At UCA, Head To Florida For ASUN Tournament

CONWAY, Ark. – Eastern Kentucky University ended the regular season with a 2-1 loss at Central Arkansas on Saturday at Bear Stadium. 
 
The Colonels will play in the 2023 ASUN Tournament in DeLand, Florida starting Tuesday or Wednesday.  The full tournament schedule will be released this evening.
 
Central Arkansas (23-31, 14-16 ASUN) broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning.  With a runner at third and two outs, Drew Sturgeon sent a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right for a 2-0 lead.
 
EKU (28-28, 15-15 ASUN) got on the board in the top of the sixth.  With runners at second and third, and no outs, Max Williams flied out to center field to drive in DJ Sullivan.
 
Sullivan finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Catcher Michael Goehrig had a double and was hit by a pitch in four trips to the plate.  Michael Schuler started on the mound for EKU and shut out the Bears on three hits in three innings.  He did not walk a batter and struck out four.
 
Sturgeon went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.  UCA starter Coleman MacRae (3-1) allowed just two hits, walked three and struck out five while pitching five shutout innings.
