RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU announced its 2023 volleyball non-conference schedule today. In addition to hosting the two-day Geri Polvino Invitational, the Colonels will play Marshall at home.
The 2023 season begins at the Mississippi State Invitational on August 25-26. EKU will face Northwestern State and host Mississippi State on day one before wrapping up play on day two against Louisiana.
The Colonels will play at the Miami Invitational on Sept. 1-2 in Oxford, Ohio. Opponents include Florida Atlantic, Cleveland State and Miami (Ohio).
The Thundering Herd will come to Richmond on Sept. 5 for a 6 p.m. match.
This year's Geri Polvino Invitational will be Sept. 8-9 at Baptist Health Arena. EKU opens play in the event at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 against Murray State. The Colonels take on Georgia State later that day at 6 p.m. The Colonels will face Chattanooga in the finale at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Additional matches in the GPI include Chattanooga against Georgia State on Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. Murray State versus Chattanooga on Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. Murray State and Georgia State will face each other on Sept. 9 at 11 a.m.
EKU will play in the Winthrop Invitational on Sept. 15-16, taking on Winthrop on the first day and Virginia Commonwealth on the second day.
The ASUN Conference portion of the schedule was announced on May 31. The first of eight ASUN home matches will be played on Sept. 20 against in-state rival Bellarmine at 6 p.m. Three days later, the Colonels will host Kennesaw State.
Additional home conference games include North Alabama (Sept. 29), Central Arkansas (Sept. 30), Stetson (Oct. 20), Florida Gulf Coast (Oct. 21), Austin Peay (Oct. 27) and Lipscomb (Oct. 28).
