ATLANTA, Ga. –
Eastern Kentucky University's 16-game 2023-24 ASUN Conference men's basketball schedule was announced today by the league office.  The schedule calls two games against five of the other 11 league members and one game against six teams.

The five home-and-home opponents for the Colonels are fellow West Division teams Lipscomb, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, North Alabama and Central Arkansas.

Additional home games will be against Jacksonville, North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast from the East Division.  The three additional road opponents will be East Division foes Queens, Kennesaw State and Stetson.

Season tickets are now on sale at EKUSports.com, or by calling 859-622-2122, or in-person at the ticket office in the Olympic Sports Training Center from 9-5 p.m.

Last season, the Colonels were 12-6 in the ASUN.  Despite being picked to place 10th in the preseason poll, EKU finished third.  The Colonels were the only team that finished in the top eight in the ASUN that faced the top two teams in the league standings two times each during the regular season.  EKU went 2-2 in those contests.

Among the 32 NCAA conferences, the ASUN ranked 16th during the 2022-23 season in RPI.  The ASUN had a better RPI as a conference than the Colonial (19th), MAC (20th), Big South (23rd), Southern (24th), Horizon (26th) and Ohio Valley (29th).  Kennesaw State nearly beat No. 3 seed Xavier in the NCAA Tournament, leading the Musketeers by 13 with 9:30 left in the game.  Liberty earned a No. 3 seed in the NIT and beat Villanova in the first round.  The Colonels advanced to the championship of the CBI.

EKU will look to turn its CBI experience into an NCAA Tournament run in 2023-24.  The core of the team will return next season – including 89 percent of its scoring, 89 percent of its rebounds, 90 percent of its assists, 79 percent of its steals and 91 percent of its blocks from 2022-23.

The 2023-24 conference season begins Jan. 4 with a home game against Lipscomb.  Austin Peay will visit Baptist Health Arena two days later.  The first road trip of the season comes at Central Arkansas (Jan. 11) and at North Alabama (Jan. 13).

The first of two meetings with in-state rival Bellarmine is set for Jan. 20 in Richmond.  The Colonels visit Louisville to take on the Knights on Feb. 17.

Jacksonville (Jan. 25) and North Florida (Jan. 27) will play at Baptist Health Arena to close out the first month of league action.

The first of three February/March road trips sends EKU to Queens (Feb. 1) and Kennesaw State (Feb. 3).  Florida Gulf Coast comes to Richmond for the second straight season on Feb. 7.  A road game at Stetson (Feb. 10) precedes the road match-up with Bellarmine.

The final home games of the regular season are Feb. 22 against North Alabama and Feb. 24 against Central Arkansas.  The Colonels conclude the regular season at Austin Peay (Feb. 28) and at Lipscomb (March 1).

The ASUN Tournament begins with first round action on March 4.  The quarterfinals are March 5 and the semifinals will be March 7.  The 2024 ASUN Tournament championship game is set for Sunday, March 10

EKU went 23-14 overall last season.  The 23 wins were the third-most in program history.  The Colonels have received two national postseason tournament invitations in the last four years.
