RICHMOND, Ky. – Four high school student-athletes – Addison Burke, Emily Melton, Stella Terpening and Cassidy Trahan – and  have signed to play collegiate volleyball at Eastern Kentucky University, head coach
Johnna Bazzani announced today.

"I'm excited for the signing of these four athletes," Bazzani said.  "They are going to add depth to our roster and help elevate the competition in our gym.  They all bring a high level of volleyball with them that fits in well with our culture. I can't wait to see the things they will do. They will be fun to watch."

Burke is a 6-foot-1 outside hitter from Fort Mill, South Carolina. As a senior this fall at Legion Collegiate Academy, she finished third in the state in kills with 434. Burke also had 65 aces and 204 digs while posting a .317 hitting percentage. She was on the AVCA Phenom Watch List and a PrepVolleyball Third Team All-American.

Melton earned second team all-state honors as a junior and all-state honorable mention as a senior at Taylor County High School. The 5-foot-8 setter/defensive specialist from Campbellsville, Kentucky had 917 assists, 260 digs and 57 aces this season. She set a new program record with 3,887 career assists. Melton earned all-region tournament recognition as a junior and a senior. In 2023, she recorded a school single season record of 1,036 assists.

Terpening is a 6-foot-2 middle blocker from Westfield, Indiana. This fall, she helped Westfield High School to a 20-9 record and an appearance in the sectional finals.

Trahan, a 5-foot-6 defensive specialist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was an all-section and all-league pick as a senior at Serra Catholic High School. She finished her career with a school record 1,662 digs. In 2023, Trahan earned all-state recognition, in addition to being picked all-section and all-league.

The Colonels will conclude the 2024 regular season with a pair of home matches this weekend. EKU will host Central Arkansas on Friday and take on North Alabama on Saturday.
