HILO, Hawai'i – Aloha! The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team is set to play the University of Hawai'i at Hilo on Wednesday inside the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium on the big island.
Wednesday's game is scheduled to tipoff at 11 p.m. ET and can be viewed live on PacWest Network. The game marks the third consecutive season the Colonels have played a regular season contest outside of the mainland United States.
EKU (6-3) enters Wednesday's game winners of its last five games and are averaging 86.0 points per game in the stretch with three wins by 20 or more. On the season, EKU is 6-1 against non-power-five opponents and 4-2 in true road games.
Senior guard
Kaitlyn Costner is on a hot streak this season, leading the Colonels with 13.2 PPG and has scored in double figures in six of her last seven games. The Osceola, Indiana native had a career-best 24 points in a hefty road win at Radford on Nov. 23 and had 16 points last time out in a win at Northern Kentucky.
Additionally, freshman
Liz Freihofer is having the best stretch of her young career averaging 9.4 PPG with back-to-back career-high 17-point performances against Maryville College and NKU. She was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman and Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 2.
Defensively, the Colonels have allowed just 51.2 PPG in their five-game winning streak, led by senior
Althea Kara Angeles who has taken 14 charges this season, one of the best numbers in the country.

Hawai'i Hilo sits at 1-4 on the season and has lost three straight games entering play on Wednesday against EKU. Senior forward Caiyle Kaupu leads the Vulcans with 14.2 PPG and has scored in double figures in all five of the team's games this year. The Vulcans are scoring 50.2 PPG this season and shoot 19.0 percent from beyond the three-point line.
History vs. UHH
Wednesday's game is the first meeting between the two programs and third game for the Colonels playing in the State of Hawai'i. EKU last played in Hawai'i in 2006 at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic in Honolulu and lost two games to Oklahoma and Georgetown.
