EKU Men's Basketball Plays Jacksonville State In Berea On Saturday

BEREA, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will play its final game at the Seabury Center in Berea on Saturday when the Colonels take on former conference foe Jacksonville State.
 
The game will begin at 2 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
EKU is playing four games at the Seabury Center on the campus of Berea College while construction continues on the renovation of Baptist Health Arena.  The first phase of the Baptist Health Arena renovation will be completed prior to the first Atlantic Sun Conference home game on Jan. 9 against North Florida.
 
This will be the Holiday Hoops Ugly Sweater Game.  Fans are invited to wear their "best" ugly sweaters and enjoy fun in-game activities.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU improved to 6-5 this season after beating Eastern Illinois, 81-66, last Saturday.  The Colonels are 3-0 at the Seabury Center this season.
 
-  EKU made a season-high 17 three-pointers against the Panthers, finishing 17-of-38 from deep (44.7 percent).
 
-  George Kimble III had a career-high seven steals against Eastern Illinois.  It was the most steals in a game by a Colonel since Cooper Robb tied the program record with eight against High Point on Dec. 22, 2020.
 
-  Jackson Holt scored a career-best 17 points and handed out a career-high five assists against EIU.  He shot 55 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Jacksonville State is 6-5 this season and 1-3 in road games.  The Gamecocks are coming off an 83-72 loss at Missouri on Tuesday.  JSU's four wins against Division I teams were against Georgia State, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina and Utah Valley.  
 
- The Gamecocks have four players averaging 10 or more points per game, led by Jaron Pierre Jr. who is scoring 22.7 points per contest.  The 6-foot-5 senior guard has hit 47 percent of his shots from the field, including 41 percent from behind the arc.  He also leads the team with 4.3 assists per game.
 
-  Mason Nicholson, a 6-foot-10 junior center, is the team's top rebounder at 7.9 boards per game.
 
-  Jax State averages 78 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the field as a team.  JSU has limited its opponents to 69 points per game and 40 percent shooting.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
-  Both teams have out-rebounded their opponents this season.  JSU has out-rebounded its foes by 10.2 boards per game.  EKU has averaged 1.1 more rebounds per game than its opponents.
 
-  EKU turns the ball over 4.4 fewer times than its opponents.  Jax State turns the ball over 2.9 time more than its opponents.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels lead the all-time series 25-14.  EKU has won four of the last six meetings, including the most recent by a score of 69-67 on Feb. 2, 2023 in Richmond.
 
-  In that 2023 game, Devontae Blanton found Robb in the corner for the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds left.  Blanton led all players with 21 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.  Skyelar Potter finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Jacksonville State.  JSU shot 39 percent (11-for-28) from behind the arc for the game, but just 32 percent (13-for-34) from inside the 3-point line.  The Colonels made 46 percent of their shots from the field and blocked seven shots.
