RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (6-5, 0-0 ASUN) surpassed its 2023 win total with a 7-0 sweep against Lindsey Wilson (3-2, 0-0 MSC) on Sunday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center. However, the Colonels lost to Murray State (4-1, 0-0 MVC) in the morning contest by a score of 5-2.
To begin the dual match against Murray State, the Racers won all three doubles matches to take a one-point advantage.
Masha Fedenko won her singles match from the No. 1 court in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Izem Elif Olcer earned the victory in singles play from the No. 5 position in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
The Racers won the other four singles contests to clinch the match.
To begin the dual match against Lindsey Wilson,
Zhansaya Bakytzhan and
Marilou Cote dominated to win their doubles match from the No. 3 spot, 6-1.
Sasha Parkhomenko and
Emmeline Polevoi won their match from the No. 2 position, 6-2, as the Colonels earned the doubles point.
Fedenko earned a win from the No. 1 court against the No. 15 singles player in the NAIA in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5. Parkhomenko won her singles match in three sets from the No. 2 spot, 6-0, 2-6, 6-0. Polevoi earned a straight-set victory from the No. 3 position, 6-3, 7-5.
Cote won her singles match in a three-set thriller from the No, 3 court, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (12-10). Bakytzhan secured the win against the No. 44 singles player in the NAIA from the No. 5 position, 6-2, 6-2.
Madison Hill won her first singles match of the season against the No. 47 singles player in the NAIA, 6-2, 4-6, 10-4.
