MUNCIE, Ind. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (7-9, 0-0 ASUN) came back from a 3-0 deficit to earn the win in a thriller by a score of 4-3 against Ball State (2-6, 0-0 MAC) on Sunday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
To begin the dual match,
Marilou Cote and
Emmeline Polevoi won their doubles match from the No. 1 spot, 6-2. However, the Cardinals won in doubles from the No. 2 and 3 courts to take a one-point advantage.
Sasha Parkhomenko and
Zhansaya Bakytzhan lost their singles matches, as Ball State took a 3-0 lead.
Polevoi won her ninth singles match of the season in straight sets from the No. 4 position, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
Masha Fedenko won her singles match in three sets from the No. 1 court, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-1).
Izem Elif Olcer earned a point for the Colonels, winning her singles match in three sets from the No. 5 spot, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.
Marilou Cote clinched the match for EKU, earning a straight-set victory in singles from the No. 3 position, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (10-8).
