RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team (13-3, 0-0 ASUN) looks to keep its 11-match winning alive against IUPUI (4-8, 0-0 Horizon) on Saturday, March 2 at 2:30 p.m. at the IUPUI Tennis Courts. Then, the Colonels will play in a ranked matchup at No. 27 Louisville (9-3, 0-0 ACC) on Sunday, March 3 at 5:00 p.m. at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
 
THE COLONELS
The Colonels enter the match with a 13-3 record, winning their 11th straight match against Ball State by a score of 5-2 on Feb. 25. EKU is ranked No. 74 in the latest ITA Team Rankings and the team is ranked for the first time in school history. The Colonels also own their best record to start the season since 1965.
 
The Maroon and White are led by 
Moritz Mayer, who boasts an 11-5 mark in singles play this season. He beat Georgia Miguel Perez Pena in singles on Jan. 22, who was the No. 43 singles player in the country, as it was the highest-ranked singles win in program history. The Eutigen, Germany product won the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week twice.
 
Evzen Holis won the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Feb. 14 and Feb. 28, as he owns a 9-4 record in singles from the top two spots in the lineup. 
Paul-Antoine Brazet has won eight straight singles matches with a total of ten on the season. 
Fernando Bulnes has eight wins in singles play.
 
Bulnes and Holis are the leading pair in doubles, as they have an 8-3 mark from the top two spots in the lineup. 
Kristoffer Stahlbrand has won six straight doubles matches and is tied with Bulnes, Holis, and Mayer for the most doubles wins on the team. The Colonels have won the doubles point in ten out of their last 11 matches.
 
SCOUTING IUPUI
IUPUI enters the contest with a 4-8 mark, falling to Louisville by a score of 7-0 on Feb. 24. The Jaguars are led by Eli Mercer in singles play, posting a 5-4 record from the No. 6 court. IUPUI is led by Steven Paz in doubles, boasting a 6-2 mark. This is the second meeting between IUPUI and EKU, as the Colonels won by a score of 6-1 in 2005.
 
SCOUTING NO. 27 LOUISVILLE
Louisville enters the match with a 9-3 mark, beating No. 36 Indiana, 6-1, and IUPUI by a score of 7-0 on Feb. 24. The Cardinals have a tough schedule before playing No. 74 EKU, as they face No. 17 Florida State on Friday and No. 61 Miami on Sunday at noon.
 
Louisville is led by Will Mayew in singles play, who boasts a 9-1 record. Etienne Donnet (No. 40) and Mayew (No. 72) are ranked in the latest ITA singles rankings. Donnet and Natan Rodrigues are the leading doubles pair for the Cardinals, as they are ranked No. 20 in the nation. Louisville beat EKU by a score of 5-0 in 2023, as they lead the all-time series 23-15.
