RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (8-11, 1-1 ASUN) won its first Atlantic Sun Conference match of the season by a score of 5-2 against Bellarmine (9-10, 1-2 ASUN) on Sunday at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.
To begin the dual match,
Marilou Cote and
Emmeline Polevoi won their doubles match from the No. 1 court, 6-4.
Zhansaya Bakytzhan and
Masha Fedenko earned a win in doubles from the No. 2 position, 6-2, as the Colonels entered singles play with a one-point advantage.
Fedenko won her 10
th singles match of the season from the No. 1 spot in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
Polevoi earned the victory in singles play in three sets from the No. 4 court, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Bakytzhan clinched the match for the Colonels, winning her singles contest in three sets from the No. 6 position, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Sasha Parkhomenko won her singles match in a three-set thriller from the No. 2 court, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
