RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University grabbed an early 1-0 lead and scored in each of the first five innings, but a 7-run second inning propelled Morehead State to a 14-7 win at Earle Combs Stadium on Tuesday.

Colby Ott scored on a sacrifice fly from
Miguel Larreal in the bottom of the first inning. The Eagles (12-9) got a 2-run home run from Isaias Guzman to fuel their big second inning. Gabriel Sepulveda added a 2-run double. A RBI double from Ryan Grabosch capped it and gave the visitors a 7-1 lead.

EKU (4-17) drew to within 7-4 on
Ron Franklin Jr.'s RBI double down the left field line in the third inning. The Colonels were down only four, 10-6, after
Conner Davis brought home Ott with a single to center in the bottom of the fifth.

Morehead State put the game out of reach with Ryley Preece's 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning.

Franklin was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Ott went 2-for-6 with two runs scored.Â
Christian Azcona also had two hits and two runs scored.

Preece had a 3-for-5 day with two runs and six RBIs for MSU.

EKU will host Dayton on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Wednesday will be Hispanic Heritage Night at the game and $2 Day, with $2 beer, soda and hot dogs.
