EKU Men’s Tennis Looks To Bounce Back Against Southern Indiana In Final Non-Conference Match

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team (14-4, 0-0 ASUN) looks to bounce back against Southern Indiana (1-7, 0-1 Horizon) in its final non-conference match on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.
 
THE COLONELS
The Colonels enter the match with a 14-4 record, falling to No. 27 Louisville by a score of 4-0 on March 3 after winning 12 straight matches.
 
The Maroon and White are led by Moritz Mayer, who boasts an 11-6 mark in singles play this season. He beat Georgia's Miguel Perez Pena in singles play on Jan. 22, who was the No. 43 singles player in the country, as it was the highest-ranked singles win in program history. The Eutingen, Germany product won the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week twice. Paul-Antoine Brazet is tied with Mayer with a team-high 11 singles wins.
 
Evzen Holis won the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Feb. 14 and Feb. 28, as he has a 10-5 record in singles from the top two courts. Fernando Bulnes has eight wins in singles play.
 
Bulnes and Holis are the leading pair in doubles, as they have an 8-4 mark from the top two spots in the lineup. Kristoffer Stahlbrand has nine wins in doubles play and he is tied with Holis for the most doubles wins on the team. The Colonels have won the doubles point in 11 out of their last 13 matches.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHERN INDIANA
Southern Indiana enters the contest with a 1-7 mark, dropping its match to Northern Kentucky by a score of 4-3 on March 3. The Screaming Eagles are led by Mathys Bove, who has a 4-2 record in singles play. The Colonels beat Southern Indiana by a score of 5-2 in 2023, as EKU leads the all-time series 4-0.
