Colonels Beat Jacksonville To Clinch Series And End Regular Season

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Senior Santiago Peralta hit a 3-run home run on Senior Day to help Eastern Kentucky University beat Jacksonville, 13-8, clinch the series and end the regular season.
 
The Colonels (21-35, 14-16 ASUN) have secured a spot in the 8-team Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament that begins on Tuesday in DeLand, Florida.  The day and time of EKU's first game and its opponent will be released on Sunday by the conference office.
 
With EKU in front 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Peralta hit his fourth home run of the season with two runners on.  The Colonels scored four more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.  Christian Azona started the big frame with an RBI single to left center.  After DJ Sullivan drew a bases loaded walk, Ehinger Adrianza capped it with a 2-run single up the middle, giving his squad an 11-2 advantage.
 
The Dolphins (25-29, 18-12 ASUN) scored four in the top of the eight to close the gap to 12-8 before Adrianza capped a 2-for-2 day with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.  He scored once and drove in three runs.
 
Peralta went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.  Tait Nunnally finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored.  Nathan Lawson started and pitched a perfect first inning before giving way to 11 relievers who got in some work on the final day of the season.
 
Seniors Gavin Baird, Rese Brown, Justin Carinci, Joe Clancy, Conner Davis, Ron Franklin Jr., Cameron Kalandros, Miguel Larreal, Peralta, DJ Sullivan, Bryce Travis, Max Williams and Rian Yates were honored in a ceremony before the game.
 
Clayton Hodges went 2-for-3 with five RBIs for Jacksonville.
