RICHMOND, Ky. – Coming off one of the best seasons in program history, EKU softball has added Boise State transfer Taci Haase and incoming freshman Jordan Smith to its 2025 roster, announced by head softball coach
Jane Worthington on Wednesday afternoon.
Wednesday's announcement marks the first roster move of the offseason for EKU, who finished the 2024 season as the Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Champions with a 42-10 overall record and a 21-3 mark over conference opponents.
Haase, a 5-foot-7 utility player from East Helena, Montana, joins EKU after two years at Boise State where she appeared in two games and was a one-time Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete. During Haase's time in Boise, the Broncos went 68-40 and captured the MWC Regular Season Title in 2023.
In her prep career, Haase was a three-time Bay Valley Athletic League Champion with Heritage High School in Brentwood, Calif., she led the program to a 74-7-1 overall record in three seasons with a .388 batting average.
She plans on majoring in emergency medical care while at EKU. Her father Tom played collegiate baseball at the University of the Pacific.
Smith, a 5-foot-8 shortstop from Salinas, California, signed with EKU after four years at Alisal High School and led the program to a league championship her senior season. Smith is a one-time All-State honoree, three-time All-League selection, and had three seasons with over a .500 batting average.
Smith comes from a long line of collegiate athletes in her family. Her parents, Sunil and Tamisha, met at Hartnell College where her father played football and mother was a standout track & field student-athlete.
Last season, EKU received a program record 14 all-conference selections, including the Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and four First Team All-ASUN selections.
EKU earned the No. 1 overall seed in the 2024 ASUN Conference Tournament and advanced to the semifinals where the team suffered a 6-2 loss to No. 2 seed North Florida.
