RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky men's tennis team is ready to kick off the 2024-25 season starting with the Louisville Invitational. The three-day tournament kicks off on Friday with the first serves starting at 8:30 a.m.
The tournament will play host to 10 teams in both singles and doubles play. Joining the Colonels on the courts will be Louisville, Kentucky, Illinois, Memphis, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Belmont, Bellarmine, and Southern Indiana. Six of the teams finished the Spring 2024 season ranked nationally by the ITA with four of those being inside the Top 50.
The Colonels come into the year coming off a 20-10 record in the Spring 2024 season - the highest win total in a spring for the program since 2011 (21). The team is led by junior
Fernando Bulnes, who tied for second on the team in dual wins last year in singles play. He racked up a record of 15-6 with seven wins apiece on Courts 2 and 3 and a 1-0 record on Court 1. He also finished with a doubles record of 11-8, tied for fourth-best on the team, with 10 wins on Court 1
Kristoffer Stahlbrand also comes into his senior season off a solid spring, finishing with a 12-10 record in singles play and a team-best 14-6 doubles record. Additionally, the squad returnsÂ
