Men's Tennis Continues Road Trip with Louisville Doubleheader

RICHMOND, Ky. - After opening up the Spring 2025 season on the road, the Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team will take on their second doubleheader in three days as they make the trip to take on the University of Louisville Cardinals.

The Colonels (0-2, 0-0 ASUN) dropped both of their matches in the season-opening doubleheader against Ole Miss but gave their SEC opponent a good fight, including a sweep of the doubles point in match two. Wednesday's two matches will be the first of the season for the Cardinals.

Both matches will take place at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center with match one slated for noon and match two set for 5 p.m.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

Louisville returns eight players from a squad that went 14-14 in the 2023-24 season, including two-time doubles All-American Natan Rodrigues as well as Will Mayew, who earned ACC Tennis Player of the Week honors last year. The Cardinals also add VCU transfer Hamza El Amine to their roster, who helped his team win their seventh-straight A10 title in 2024.

Last season saw the Cardinals make a historic run in the NCAA Doubles Championship, knocking off Old Dominion, Georgia, and Duke before falling in the semifinals to Ohio State in a heartbreaking tiebreaker set, 2-6, 6-4, 10-12.

SERIES HISTORY
The Cardinals lead the series 30-11, including a 4-0 victory the last time the teams met on March 3, 2024.
